We\u2019ll explore each stage of the picturebook process together: from generating ideas<\/strong> through to making rough sketches<\/strong> and eventually finished illustrations<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll learn about character, pacing, plot and composition… plus this year Lizzy’s running some new workshops on the art of silent picturebooks! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a powerful and exciting way of developing your visual storytelling<\/strong>: by learning how to convey narrative, characters and emotions entirely through images, you\u2019ll deepen your understanding of visual narrative in ways that will greatly enrich and stregthen your project<\/strong>, whether you\u2019re planning to create a book with words<\/strong><\/strong> or without<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Lizzy Stewart:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lizzy writes and illustrates fabulously fun and imaginative picturebooks. In 2017 her book \u2018There\u2019s a Tiger in the Garden\u2019 <\/strong>won the Waterstones Children\u2019s Book Prize<\/strong> and the World Illustration Award!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She teaches illustration on the MA at Goldsmiths University<\/strong> in London, and has also taught courses at the Tate<\/strong> and on behalf of the National Portrait Gallery<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lizzy’s also writes and illustrates books for adults, which have been called “stunning synthesis of graphic novel and literary fiction”.<\/p>\n\n\n
