Picturebook Retreat with David Barrow

(Rome, Friday 15th – Wednesday 20th March 2024)

You’ll learn how you can transform the spark of an idea into a fully realised working narrative.

Together we’ll delve into all of the elements that make a successful picture book:

1. character development,
2. colour, composition and mark making
3. the relationship between word and image… Plus much more!

And we’ll sketch in the gorgeous Roman squares to explore the transition from sketchbook to imaginative illustration!

We’ll also investigate how to develop your own authentic creative voice, and we’ll look at how your everyday observations can inspire and inform your visual language and storytelling.
